House Hunting and Wooden Floors

One the first things that my fiancé and I look at when we are house hunting is the flooring. We knew we always wanted wooden floors because of how beautiful it makes homes look. Even if there is carpet, he would make sure that underneath there is some decent wood floors that we could work with. We are all about wood floors for our future home especially that my fiancé has horrible allergies so carpeting is a no go for us. Plus hardwood floors add style to your home and value as well.

If you talk to me about different clothing materials, prints, and styles, I am all about that. I could probably talk to you for hours on it. But hardwood floors? I have zero knowledge for it. All I know is that I love a farmhouse style and a wider plank style as well. I love the way lighter wood floors look with darker furniture to give it that contrast.
This is the kind of stuff that my fiancé loves. He's always talking about our future home and the type of wood we could have from an affordable option to a not so affordable one.

This is the kind of stuff that my fiancé loves. From the moment we step into a home, he's checking out the floors and seeing if it's something we like. We have even been to homes that are a total gut job and had no flooring. He has shown me countless types of wood and color .He's always talking about our future home and the type of wood we could have from an affordable option to a not so affordable one (because if you know my fiancé, this guy doesn't like the cheap stuff).

Carpet Vs. Wood-flooring

Okay for us like I said before, carpeting is a just a big no. My fiancé has horrible allergies and carpeting is just no good for us. Plus knowing myself, I easily spill things all the time so i can imagine the stains that my carpet will have. I'm a huge wine drinker and I cant just imagine the type of spills I could have after one too many glasses. We also want kids in the near future and thats just a recipe for disaster! Trust me I work with kids.

As much as carpeting might be cozier for some people, its just too much of a headache for others. Light carpeting needs to be specially washed so it doesn't look dirty and that could be pricey. Have you read my last blog post on air quality in your home? Carpeting is not good for air quality inside your home due to it retaining dust mites, mold, bacteria, and pet dander.

Wood floors are super easy to sweep, vacuum, and mop. They are super durable too. So spills and children wont be a problem because what could they possibly do to a wooden floor? Okay okay scratches occur on the floor but thats a super easy fix! With local companies such as Selecta Flooring, you can get them to come in to buff and sand away any scratches or imperfections your wood may have. Why throw a rig over damaged floor when you can get easily get it fixed?!

Why going cheap isn't the best option!

Okay when it comes to home reno or what not, going cheap is never okay. If you want a crap job then fine go cheap. But if you want quality work, you're going to have to pay up for it. If your a NJ. What I love about Selecta Flooring is that they are local. They are located everywhere and only bring the finest wood to their clients. They state that the best part of choosing a local company is because "We know the building codes, and we know the right woods and finished to protect  your floors in our unique climate." A company that knows the codes knows what they are doing. Plus they know what we should get based on our climate?! Sign me right up. Our climates change daily from hot to cold and why pay money for floors that wont last if they aren't right.

There is just something about wooden floors that make a house look so luxurious. I am so excited to continue our house hunting and find the perfect home for us. I can’t wait to have my own wooden floors!
